Pola, Schatze, and Loco

I have to admit: when I first moved to New York, I considered How to Marry a Millionaire something of a user's guide to the city. It's so practical!

These days, I just find myself murmuring the director's name as a kind of soothing mantra: Jean Negulesco, Jean Negulesco, Jean Negulesco...

  1. Oh, my goodness...I thought HWMAM was what city living would be like, too. I'd have a soundstage-sized apartment, champagne and cold cuts for lunch, and never pay for a thing.

Then reality called, and reversed the charges.

  2. It does have its little ways, reality, doesn't it?

  3. Negulesco also directed the sublimely that way "The Best of Everything". Which I am surprised that TJB didn't point out already, since he is as obsessed with that movie as I am!
