The Happy Couple

"Well," thought the former Winifred Spragg, just that morning become Lady Splafford, "there are probably worse things than finding the groom in the butler's pantry - with the butler - at one's own wedding reception. Now it seems I shall have fifty years or so to find out just what they are."

But then she remembered the Splafford emeralds, the house at Deauville, and her new account at Worth's, and immediately she felt much better.

  1. There are always worse things, the problem is one keeps finding them.

  2. I would imagine that the Rev. Grimscrabble presided over the nuptuals.

But did Lady Viola really do the shimmy with Miss Hampton-fforbes out on the veranda while the Shufflehamptons took center stage in the ballroom doing a rather besotted Black Bottom?

  4. Ah, Bill you warm my heart - do you know, I almost made these two a flashback to the Shufflehampton' early life? Great minds, dear heart...
