Pick a Card...

...any card, from the dainty hand of silent screen siren Carmel Myers, one of the era's more plausible vamps.

Carmel Myers fun fact: she was a cousin of our beloved Broadway Lady Betty Comden!

And now is the time on the Café Muscato when we namedrop: I know this because Miss Comden told me so herself. We haven't always been stranded out here on the Indian Ocean, you know!

  1. I used to see Betty (and Adolf & Phyllis out at the theater rather often). One of my favorite spottings was Betty & Adolf sitting with Al Hirschfeld on a bench in the lobby of the Martin Beck (now named for Hirschfeld). I was dying to speak to them but there was far too much theatrical legend wattage for the lowly likes of me to approach.
