NilePop Update

Let no one say that the Egyptian music scene is out of date. Not only does Cairo boast its fair share of fleetingly famous boy bands, it even has breakout stars who leave their boy bands for greater things.

Here, for example, we have the current Justin Timberlake of the Nile, Mohamed Nour, late of a quartet called Wama. In this photo, he is apparently about to head out into the desert in Barbie's Dream Car.

You will immediately note that Egyptian singing stars by and large avoid the boy-waif look so popular in the West.

And, speaking for myself, I think that's a very good thing.

Nour is seen (and heard) here in ravishing black and white (and, it must be said, uncharacteristically thoroughly clothed) in his latest video hit, Aady (Typical):

Enjoy.

(a word to the wise: this Mohamed Nour is not the Egyptian bodybuilder of the same name. However, the inquisitive among you might want to comb YouTube for his videos. Yowsah!)
