Another travel snap, this time from Luxor; the temple of Karnak has a line of ram-headed sphinxes leading to it, and if you choose your time right, you don't even have to share it with 5,000 screaming tourists.
Unfortunately, that time is 1906. Or 6:00 a.m. Most days, I'd choose the former, if I had my way...
beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI had a great visit to Karnak – the French son et lumière was the first in the evening (very appropriate) the ‘crépuscule’ adding to the atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteAfter the French - everyone left but I pressed myself against a column and waited alone in the vast temple.
As if across the barrel vaulting of an Egyptian Tomb shooting stars sped through the inky blue high above the Pylons and the magical perfume of Henna flowers found its way, from the gardens outside, through the columns to me.
Truly a once in a lifetime experience – and the English version wasn’t bad either!!!
