All Mod Cons

One Tuesday morning, Irene learned that she could refill her Miltown prescription over the telephone.

As a result, she didn't leave the house more than four times between 1957 and 1962.  Her husband, Chet, didn't seem to mind too much, but eventually Marge down at Fabrizzi's Pharmacy got concerned and stopped by herself instead of sending the delivery boy.  The two eloped to Bonita Springs, Florida, and never looked back.

  1. Which also worked out quite well for Chet and Jimmy, that 'sensitive' delivery boy from Fabrizzi's. We all heard those nasty May/December and "tuition assistance" comments. No one thought it would last. We were sure Irene would be back. And Chet did pay for Jimmy to go to that design school. But last I heard, some 50 years later, Jimmy has sold his interior design firm and retired to the Berkshires and is still blissfully happy with Chet, a well preserved and smiling octogenarian.

    1. I heard a rumor that they're taking over the old Pensione Regina Vittoria in Firenze...

  2. "You were able to get Mort Junior out of that dress? That's "wunderful" news Midge! I know how you feel though, we've had great success with our Celia since we let her get that job as the Girl Gym Summer Intern. She practically glows over Miss Armitage's influence. What's that? No! Do you know what that nice gym teacher has done? She took her to hear some singer - Holly Near or something like that. I think she's a folk singer or something like that..."

    1. What can I say? Despite being the very definition of a boring old fart, I remain a fool for Mad Love.
