Les Feuilles Mortes

Since we last saw it in August, the view from my office has changed...

This whole autumn business is quite a surprise, really.  Not literally, of course - I do remember that the leaves change, the air cools, the light changes.  Still, it's been more than a decade since that's been just a memory, and the reality of it is rather bracing.  The whole time change thing has thrown me off rather more than I would have thought, too, the dark, early evenings unwelcome and uninviting.

Even so, there's no denying that the autumn palette is pretty devastating, on the right tree, and it gets ever harder not to simply sit and watch the leaves fall.

  1. How is Mr. Muscato holding up in the weather change?

  2. I would say he's being stoic, albeit in an Egyptian sort of way that involves a great deal of sighing.

  3. My goodness, has it ever! It does make me homesick for climates. We are still having summer weather here in Southern California, which has not prevented them from breaking out the Uggs.
