Lovely Rita

"At least...not half as much as I know about backlessness"

  1. I still think a blonde Rita is wrong, just wrong.

  2. Well, given all that was wrong in that sad lady's life, not The Wrongest, but it's up there.

I put this up because I was watching her in Separate Tables (which has mostly pretty dull poster art), and thinking what a weird role it was for her. Then I read that she was a more or less last-minute replacement for Lady Olivier, and it all made sense: she's costumed, lit, and directed like a late-era Vivien, and the role is basically a version of Mrs. Stone/whatshername from Ship of Fools.

All of which is to say: at least she ditched the blonde as fast as she was able...

  3. I don't think I've even ever heard of Separate Tables. I'm on my way to Wikipedia right now.
