Why Don't You...

...take a moment on this day that is devoted to all things foolish, and join me for a little while?

Max Raabe and his Palast Orchester are playing for tea dance at the Alte Europa Wintergarten Café, just adjacent to our very comfortable hotel, and we have a lovely table over here, with a view of the lake.  It's early for Champagne, I suppose, but we can still call it teatime and enjoy some of these lovely pastries, and the local Sekt is so good it seems silly not to have a little, no?

I believe I overheard Lady Mendl and her party in the lobby saying they might stop by (and they say she's traveling with the Maharani of Jaipur). Max at the concierge desk mentioned that Zarah Leander comes here regularly.  And then tonight we can go to the party that Bricktop's throwing for Jack Gilbert in the Lola Montez Room at the Casino - if we're lucky, that strange new girl she found in Paris - what's her name? Piaf? - will sing again.

More Sekt? Already?  Well, I'm glad you like it. I don't know about you, but I suppose we could have just a dash of caviar while we're waiting for another round of those pastries, don't you think?  After all, once Doug and Mary and that crowd join us, it's not like there's going to be any left over, not if she really has Marion Davies tagging along...

Waiter - waiter, darling - over here!

  1. Dear Max Raabe - I love him, and in particular his predilection for brilliant cover versions of pop hits. We have quite a collection of his work here at Dolores Delargo Towers, including his double album of Kurt Weill's music, and his "Die Dreigroschenoper (Threepenny Opera) with Nina Hagen!

I'll join you for a Sekt, even if it is not yet 8am... Jx
