Shameless Sunday Camp Explosion: Fire Away

Camp refuses both the harmonies of traditional seriousness, and the risks of fully identifying with extreme states of feeling.
- Susan Sontag, "Notes on Camp"

I thought it might be nice (although that might not be quite the right word) to see our way out of Crawford Birth Week 2014 with this memorable little mashup of some of the more Extreme States of Joan.

The dulcet tones of Miss Pat Benatar make for an appropriate accompaniment to the several decades worth of mayhem, which reminds us, if nothing else, that when it comes to Best Shots, at times Joan got as good as she gave.  Her Vida-slapping from Mildred Pierce is perhaps the most famous interlude here, but I'm rather taken with her stabby-bitey moment with Gable.  Those two always brought out the best in each other...

  3. God bless the folks who take the time to put these things together. Took me right back to Musical Mondays at Splash bar or Wednesday nights (back in the Paleozoic age) at Uncle Charlie's in the West Village.

    1. Doesn't it? Dan-o-Rama was the pioneer and remains the standard setter, but there are lots of these treasures out there. You remind me to feel guilty about not crediting the creator, the intrepid YouTuber BitterSweetxo13.
