Birthday Girl: Time to Say Goodbye
Saint Zsa Zsa of Gabor is 97 today. I cannot be alone both in wishing her well and in hoping that someday soon she'll be free.
The great lady aside, there's clearly some powerful juju in the air on this date. Ms. Gábor Belge Hilton Sanders Hutner Cosden Ryan O'Hara de Alba von Anhalt has among her co-celebrants luminaries who range from Mrs. Hitler to "Dutch" Reagan, with Claudio Arrau, Mary Leakey, Babe Ruth, Ramón Novarro, Mamie Van Doren, Kathy Najmy, the second Mr. Kim Kardashian, and God help us Rick Astley thrown in for good measure.
She's a long way from Budapest, that's for sure. But then again, aren't we all? On the other hand, unlike some people, at least I (and I'm including you in this, too) am not quite old enough to have been born as a subject of the Austro-Hungarian Empire...

i'd guess the only one zsa hasn't rolled with is rick.
ReplyDeleteThe husbands, the feuds, the cops and flight attendants that she slapped; there has never been another that even came close.
ReplyDeleteWell, there is always Justin Beiber. But he'll never be entertaining like Zsa Zsa.
DeleteGood lord. The very idea of comparing the two! The mind reels. The Kardashians would like to be the Gabors of the current millennium, but that's equally ludicrous. They stand apart, the sisters (and Mama), a once-upon-a-time nonpareil.
DeleteThe Kardashians wish. They're not fit to fluff her marabou.
DeleteShe ain't gone yet. God bless her.
