Still the Same Old Story

Oh, sister - been there, done that.  More than once.  Haven't we all?

  2. Ah, yes, I've had a few of those.

The corker was a torrid 3 or 4 month thing with a certain man of the cloth. It was all so tawdry and deliciously scandalous. I'm fairly certain the feelings on both sides were genuine, but our wiser heads over-ruled our foolish hearts. We ended it before it became a major embarrassment for either of us.

Still, it resulted in that pesky Meggie Cleary nickname that dogged me for the better part of a decade. And I did for a time imagine Rachel Ward or Phoebe Cates playing me in an overripe television movie version of the whole insane episode.

    Youth....

    1. Now, of course, were you (or I, for that matter, or a great swathe of Gentle Readers) to take up a little something in the clerical direction, we'd be distinctly more on the Mary Carson side of things. I'm not complaining - if I had to choose between being played by Rachel Ward or Barbara Stanwyck, I think the choice is pretty clear...

Never, as it were, had a little priest myself, but there have been more than a few spill along the bumpy road to l'amour, l'amour. Don't regret most of them, and in the end it all turned out all right. Even without Richard Chamberlain.

    2. Oh, I'm sure we now could easily get all Mary Carson on some unsuspecting and newly minted padre. "Kiss me on my mouth as if we were lovers," and all that.

And even the few that I have slight regrets about make for great cocktail party (or blog comment) chatter.

    1. Well, to tell the truth, I've had more than a few raised eyebrows about taking up with a furriner and a Mooslin, but I go with Truman on that sort of thing - the dogs bark, but the caravan moves on...
