He is Risible, Indeed

Just in case your Easter isn't shaping up to be oleaginous enough, darlings, herewith a treasurable moment in vintage television.

Despite the evidence in the still, as the clip began, I hoped against hope for a moment that the "very lovely and beautiful lady" was going to be Lee's perennial demi-fiancée, Miss Sonja Henie, but God knows Mama delivers value enough. Is that or is that not the most awkward moment in screen dancing you've ever seen?

I hope your Easter (if you're celebrating; your Sunday, if you're not) is pleasant and duly festive. We're be spending an unexpectedly serene day, as Mr. Muscato's normally ruthless overlords have declared today a holiday. We'll be doing a fair amount of consoling in regards to the dogs, as yesterday they had their spring clip, and their stylist went a little mad - they're not quite shaved to the skin, but close enough that they seem to have been reduced in total volume by something like two thirds. They seem more startled than anything, but it's definitely an adjustment, especially for Koko, who is normally more or less a trotting sphere of blond fluff.

We'll be chocolate-free, alas, but I did find some nice lamb shanks at the butcher's yesterday, so we'll go with tradition for dinner. Perhaps I'll have a look around in the backs of closets and drawers and see if I can't come up with some approximation of dear Mrs. L.'s remarkable bit of millinery...

  1. What screen presence she has! Again, I ask, what screen presence she has?

    1. I'm only surprised that brother George didn't show up dressed as the Easter Bunny...

  2. I love that sort of dazed air she has about her. As if they shot her with a tranquiliser dart and then shoved her out on stage.

    1. It was probably just a couple of Rob Roys, but I'm guessing that's more or less exactly how it went down...

  3. Her foundation garments are what's holding her back.
